Meet Summer Christiansen! She is an ADHD life coach for parents, kids and teens. She was diagnosed with ADHD at 11 years old. Summer forgot about her diagnosis because she was so young when she first received it. Once she got older and struggled with anxiety and depression, it also connected back to her having ADHD. She is very open about her diagnosis and loves working with others to help them manage theirs or their children’s ADHD.

Today, I talk with Dr. Dawn Kamilah Brown about her ADHD journey and racial disparity. Dr. Dawn was diagnosed with ADHD in her 30’s. She graduated from Xavier University, and HBCU in Louisiana. She earned her doctorate degree and completed her Residency in General/Adult Psychiatry in just three years at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Dawn furthered her education by completing an additional two-year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Dawn owns three companies. The first is the ADHD Wellness Center with 2 locations in Texas. It is a growing virtual practice. She is medically licensed in six states as of this recording. She hopes to be soon licensed in 11 states. Her second business piece is Dr. Dawn Psych MD, which includes her speaking, podcast and media related platforms. Lastly, she has a newer business called Mental Healthetics where she works with elite athletes on mental health wellness. She also serves five clinics in addition to her private practice.

My guest is IngerShaye Colzie. She is a mom of a son that has ADHD, a psychotherapist, and an ADHD coach. She realized down the road that she had ADHD and officially got tested and was diagnosed with the combined type at 54 years old.
IngerShaye dives into ADHD and Bipolar Disorder. What is bipolar, what are the symptoms, is there information in how ADHD could affect bipolar disorder and how do you manage it? This is a topic that has come up a quite a bit lately and I thought it would be a good time to explore it a little more.

In this video, my guest, Jeremy Fox dives into trauma and ADHD. He shares what is trauma, how does ADHD affect trauma, how do you know the signs of trauma, and how do you work through it.
Jeremy is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) and EMDRIA Approved EMDR Consultant who specializes in treating trauma. He has practiced EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) since 2014 and has facilitated several presentations regarding its use in addressing dissociation, flashbacks, and other symptoms of post-traumatic stress.
He was mentored by Dr. Arielle Schwartz and received his EMDRIA-Approved Consultant designation in 2019. His article “Recovery, Interrupted: The Zeigarnik Effect in EMDR Therapy and the Adaptive Information Processing Model” was published in the September 2020 issue of the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research.

Suzanne has been a teacher for 21 years in the UK. She started supporting students with learning differences about 10 years ago. She even did training with the ADHD foundation. Suzanne is an English teacher and she runs the learning support division. She trains teachers about learning differences. Also she has her own business “Teaching with a difference” where she supports younger students with learning differences.
She talks about how she has helped children get through school, the importance of building relationships with the teacher and she gives some tips on how to advocate for a child in school.

Katherine Snedaker has a fascinating story. She is the CEO and Founder of PINK Concussions. Katherine talks about her and her son’s ADHD journey and the decisions that she made to get her and her son tested. It was expensive at that time. She also talks about dyslexia, sobriety, cancer, and brain injuries. At one time, Katherine was a social worker and worked with trauma, PTSD, adoption, adoption triad and at the same time was caring for her mother. She decided to stop being a social worker and focus on her three children. She digs into Pink Concussions and why she started the non-profit organization. Her primary focus with this organization is to provide information for parents of girls are getting concussions but are not getting the same type of attention as boys. Kalaki Clarke, MD is a Board-Certified Family Physician who provides compassionate medical care for patients experiencing homelessness on Skid Row in Downtown, Los Angeles. She received her Medical degree in 2005 and she completed her Family Medicine in 2017. It was her personal experiences with Major Depressive Disorder and a late diagnosis of ADHD at age 35 which prompted her to additionally complete the UC Irvine/UC Davis' Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship to provide greater mental health support for her patients. As a strong mental health advocate, Dr. Clarke serves as an Administrator of Physicians with ADHD, a private group of more than 500 physicians and is a member of the Society for Healthcare Professionals with Disabilities. In this video, Dr. Kalaki shares her ADHD journey and some of the struggles she had before getting diagnosed. She also defines what comorbidity means and how some can manage their comorbid diagnosis along with their ADHD. The goal for them is to help other moms by sharing their experiences. Jenn is the mother of 5 children. She has been homeschooling for 6 years. Her son was diagnosed with high-functioning ADHD. Lindz is the mother of 3 girls. She is a former behavioral health specialist. She worked in the mental health industry for 7 years. Sometime after she became a substitute teacher so she could have more flexibility to raise her girls.
